When in Rome…

I spent 4 days in Rome. 4 days of walking and eating incessantly in this city like no other. Every corner of this place has an amazing monument, sculpture or church to be admired. There are 2000 year old monuments, art by Michelangelo and Raphael and ice cream that will  blow your mind. There are also long ticket lines everywhere, crazy traffic, expensive meals and crowds wherever you go.

I took the city in with full force and walked for miles to see as much as I could. There are a few things you must do when in Rome and a few things you should avoid. Here’s my list:

Why you don’t have to have it all figured out

girlcigarette2At the beginning of the year we all have the urge to make changes. Most of us start thinking about the past year, what we’ve achieved and where we are in life. I know I do that quite a lot. I also know some people have that constant fear of failing and not being where they thought they would be. A lot of people compare themselves to others and wonder why they don’t have it all figured out.

SPOLER ALERT: You don’t have to have it all figured out, and here’s why:

Breakfast at Cafe Motu

IMG_9082Today I woke up craving an English breakfast.

I know, I know. Fry-ups are totally unhealthy and very against my 2016 healthy eating goal. I really wanted eggs though. And bacon…I really felt like eating bacon. It doesn’t help that my fella is as much of a food lover as I am (can I blame it on him please??).

Anyway, we finally managed to roll out of bed and head to town with our friend. The sun was out so I took a few shots in the Lanes, one of my favourite places in Brighton. Continue reading

My 8 favourite Instagram accounts of 2015

Instagram I’m an Instagram addict.

Although I use other forms of social media, Instagram is by far my favourite. In fact it’s the first app I check every morning and the last I check before going to bed. I’m not an Instagram pro and I don’t have a theme (I know it’s become quite trendy to have a theme on Instagram like all whiter photos, etc.) but I love it.

I follow a lot of accounts (when I say a lot, I mean A LOT) for different reasons. All of them inspire me in some way: some of them give me travel inspiration, some of them give me recipe ideas and some of them are just plain pretty. As 2015 has come to an end, I thought it would be good to share with you the ones I visited religiously during 2015. Trust me, some of these will make your day.

So, in no particular order, these were my favourite Instagram accounts of 2015:

About my blogging break

IMG_8672Four months…WOW! Yes, I’ve been MIA for a long time now but the truth is I just wasn’t inclined to blog. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it and I did miss it but I just wasn’t inspired (I guess that’s what they call bloggers block, huh?). I had a lot going on and to be totally honest it felt good not to worry about the blog all the time. I stopped looking at my stats (which totally dropped by the way) and decided to take a break from it all.

Saturday wanderings in Devil’s Dyke

IMG_7068We’ve been really wanting to enjoy every last bit of sunshine as winter is just around the corner. It seems like Autumn is almost in full force (still no leaves covering the pavements, but the temperatures have fallen and autumn jackets are definitely out) and from there it’s a slippery slope to winter.

To enjoy what could be our last few weeks of proper sunshine, we went to Devil’s Dyke in the South Downs. I have to stay I was amazed at all the stunning views. And that smell! You know, that fresh nature smell that you don’t get in the city – gorgeous.

A late picnic in Stanmer Park

picnic in the parkWhen you think of a picnic you probably think of going sometime around lunchtime and spending a nice day out in the sun, am I right? Well not Kimberly and I. We decided to go for a picnic after work (which for us means 5pm). It sounded like a great idea at the time but we completely forgot to consider that it is not summer anymore which means a) it’s getting dark much earlier and b) the temperatures drop c.o.n.s.i.d.e.r.a.b.l.y in the evenings.

The good thing is that when we’re together we manage to transform any situation into an awesome experience. Any sane person would have gotten up and left. Again, not us. We had so much fun and laughed our hats off with the situation! Give up and go home? never!

My top 10 favourite blogs

favouriteblogsI’ve been a blog lover for a long time now (way before I started my blog) and have a list of blogs I go to either for positive thoughts, for fashion&beauty tips, career advice, restaurant reviews, recipes, travel ideas or simply to make me smile. These blogs all have inspired me in one way or another and I hope to be able to inspire some of you in the same way one day!

So, before I give you my list of favourite blogs, I just have to say that I love so many and picking 10 was no easy task! Still, these are the ones I tend to visit the most – some have been a love for longer and some are more recent loves. In no particular order:
