Studies show that morning people tend to be more proactive and to make the most of their days therefore tending to be healthier and more productive than others (read more about this here and here).
The truth is that people who only need 5 hours of sleep are rare so it isn’t a case of being able to sleep less hours but how to train yourself to wake up early and feel good about it!
Now, I’m not an expert on this and I do not consider myself to be a morning person (not yet at least) but I have been trying to gradually become one and a friend of mine (who is not a morning person) asked me to share my tips. So here goes – this one’s for you Kim!
I am absolutely in love with white decor – be it white and grey or white and any other pastel colour. It’s just gorgeous. As I’m looking into redecorating my living room and bedroom I’ve been looking a lot into home decor ideas and decided to put together my favourite pictures and inspiration for you guys to have a look.
The thing about a predominantly white decor is it creates a serene atmosphere and an elegant look. I do think however it’s important to add a few textures and other light colours (like grey and pastel) for it not to turn boring and uninviting. White is beautiful but don’t forget to mix it up a little bit.
My living room currently has a few dark furniture pieces so I would have to do some DIY *exciting* to make it look white. Can’t wait (don’t worry – I will share everything with you when I get round to it!)
This is what has been inspiring me:
I’ll admit – I’m the kind of person that is scared of change. In fact, I tend to think I’m not ready for it and that the consequences might be devastating. But the truth is I have gone through plenty of changes in my life and I don’t regret any of them. Nothing devastating happened and my life didn’t turn upside down – I made it.
Now change is unavoidable but I think the hardest change is when it is not forced upon you but when it is actually up to you. When you are unhappy and know you can change but are too afraid to. There are two options: you can either stand there and do nothing or change! So, after thinking about what advice I would give to anyone who feels stuck but doesn’t have the strength to change, I came up with this:
When I look back and think how I was as a teenager/young adult I wish I could write a letter to my younger self. This is what I’d say:
1. You are a cool person – stop putting yourself down
Stop thinking you are the worst person ever an that such and such is so much cooler. Trust me, you are a great kid and you will do just fine in life!
2. Stop worrying so much about your looks
You worry too much about how you look and about what others think about how you look. You are not the ugliest and fattest thing in the universe! Enjoy life while you can – you will have serious things to worry about when you get older!
First I need to apologize for not posting before this week but it has been manic! I have so many things going on at the moment I’ve had no time for myself! The good thing is I am going to Lisbon tomorrow for a week *happy dance* and cannot wait! Just to make it clear, it is not like it’s my first time there – I lived in Lisbon for almost 10 years and that’s where my parents live. However, as the organizational freak I am, I have to share my packing tips/steps with you. I am not a light traveler (I wish I was) but I still have a few things I follow in order to make packing easier (and to make it all fit in one suitcase!). Here are the steps I take:
I’ve always been a planner and organizer (as I said before I can’t live without my to-do lists) but have to admit I haven’t taken the time to organize my week as much as I used to and I can see the consequences (not good ladies!). Yesterday however I decided to get back to my weekly organization as I could feel the chaos settling in and boy did I feel better today! This is a list of things you should do on a weekend (Sundays are best) that will make you ready for the week ahead. They are simple things but they will help you be worry-free and relaxed for the whole week. Try it:
What a week! I haven’t been having the best week so far: my job has been quite stressful, my goal to start going to the gym everyday hasn’t become a reality, I haven’t had time to blog as much as I wanted to, my internet connection is terrible and my laptop has gone mad. As a result of all this, my confidence levels haven’t been the greatest and I feel like screaming at the person from Talk-Talk at the other end of the phone! Anyway, after counting to ten and using my coping mechanisms I realized I needed to share them with you! As I said in my “Self-love for dummies” post, I believe that it is important to love yourself first and trust your capabilities above everything. I know how hard this can be and I know it’s not easy to be cheerful after a bad day but almost everything can be worked on, right?
Self-love is a big topic and one a lot of people avoid to discuss in detail. The main reason for this is most people lack self-love and don’t give it the importance it truly has. It’s not about saying that you love yourself but actually loving yourself. It will change the way you see life and the way life sees you.
If there is one thing I’ve learned is that it is absolutely vital to know yourself and to believe you are being the best version of yourself you can be. I know, easier said than done. But there are things you can do to make it work. I commit to a few things that have considerably improved my confidence and self-love. Trust me, these things can make a difference!
‘Tis the season of love…and nothing says “I love you” more than something made with your own two hands. Although I believe you should show your partner you love them all year round, I do think it is nice to give your loved one a little something on this special day ♥ However, you don’t have to spend a lot of money! I have made a list that includes either things I have done before or things I found super cute online.
Let’s get creative: Continue reading
