Why you don’t have to have it all figured out

girlcigarette2At the beginning of the year we all have the urge to make changes. Most of us start thinking about the past year, what we’ve achieved and where we are in life. I know I do that quite a lot. I also know some people haveΒ that constant fear of failing and not being where they thought they would be. A lot of people compare themselves to others and wonder why they don’t have it all figured out.

SPOLER ALERT: You don’t have to have it all figured out, and here’s why:

No one really knows what they’re doing. We’re all just winging it.Β

The older I get and the more people I meet the more I see that we’re all on the same boat. Most people are just doing what you do and they don’t have it all figured out either. Even though from the outside some people look like they have it all, I guarantee that they don’t. No one is ever 100% satisfied with where they are or what they have – we always want more or imagine more for ourselves. So stop beating yourself about what you’re lacking and try to find joy and happiness in this moment. Don’t compare yourself with anyone else and whatever you want, go after it now.

What matters is where you are now (where you thought you would be doesn’t matter)

What is the point of obsessing about where you should have been by now? The idea of where you should have been was created by a younger and less experienced you that had not lived half of what you have. Things didn’t turn out like you imagined when you were 20 – so what? You are a different person today and maybe if you had to re-imagine it you would want to be somewhere else. The truth is, you’ve gone through different jobs, opportunities, heart breaks, new friendships, all of which change you and make who you are today.

You will never have it all figured out, no one does

You are always changing and you will always want different things at different points in your life. You will travel, meet new people and change interests and passions constantly therefore it is just impossible to have it all figured out. No one will ever tell you “I have it all figured out” because no one really does. Don’t forget – we’re all on the same journey.

Lots of love,
