DIY Body Scrub: Coffee and Coconut oil

One thing I love is the look and feel of healthy skin. I usually have different types of scrubs at home and use them religiously as they give the skin a nice, soft feel and a healthy glow. You can imagine my excitement when I was talking to a friend the other day about my love for body scrubs and he said that coffee is one of the best ingredients for your skin and that you can make this scrub at home. I obviously looked into it and tried it and OH MY GOD the result is amazing! Now I have tried many scrubs but my skin has never felt so soft after this one so I absolutely have to share this with you! The best thing is you can use used coffee grounds so it’s very cheap as well (not free because you need to get coconut oil) and the smell is absolutely amazing! Like a warm cup of coffee!

♥ First, the ingredients and what they do to your skin:

Coffee

Not only does coffee contain powerful anti-oxidants but it also tightens pores and removes dead skin cells which makes the skin look younger. I also found out that the caffeine in coffee stimulates blood flow and circulation and thus can also treat redness, inflammation and reduce cellulite. The more I read about the benefits of coffee to your skin, the more I wanted to actually try this out so have a look here and here if you want to find out more! No wonder there are so many beauty products that have coffee in it!

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is a great, natural moisturizer. It contains saturated fats that keep your skin smooth and silky and help eliminate moisture loss. It is also a source of Vitamin E and has anti-ageing properties. Not only that, but it protects your skin from microbial infections (I bet you didn’t know that!). Read more about the benefits of coconut oil on your skin here and here.

Olive oil

Olive oil contains three major antioxidants: vitamin E, polyphenols, and phytosterols. It is a great ingredient and I decided to add a couple of teaspoons to my scrub because it penetrates and works on different layers of skin. It hydrates, cleanses and protects it. Find out more here and here.

♥ Now, what you need to do:

This is the easiest, quickest beauty product I have ever made. All you need to do is get used coffee grounds, coconut oil and 3 teaspoons of olive oil. Mix them together in a small bowl (I used my hands!). Set it aside for about 15 minutes as it hardens and becomes an even mix. And that’s it! In 20 minutes you have a cheap but effective and luxurious hand & body scrub!

      1. That’s amazing! Well coffee can reduced inflammation and olive oil helps dry skin so it’s absolutely normal that she got rid of the white patches (I’m assuming they were dry patches). I’m glad you both liked it though! I’m totally in love 🙂 x
