Yesterday was one of the most important days of my life. In about 10 minutes, my 18 years of using glasses and contact lenses were history. Yes, I got lazer eye surgery! And it only took about 60 seconds for each eye. How amazing is that? “Look at the red light ahead” – that’s all I had to do. And here I am the very next day, writing yet another post – without my glasses on!
What the LASIK eye surgery consists of: first, a thin circular flap is created in the cornea. Then the surgeon folds back the flap to access the underlying cornea and removes some corneal tissue.Lastly, the lazer reshapes the cornea so it more accurately focuses light on the retina for improved vision. Then the flap is laid back in place. That’s it. It might sound complicated but it does not hurt at all. All you might feel is a slight (and I mean slight!) pressure. I promise it is not pain or anything close to pain.
After the surgery you need to take a cab home. This is because your eyesight will be blurry and you will be very sensitive to light. The result isn’t immediate either. When I arrived home I couldn’t open my eyes for a while and they felt scratchy, like I had sand in them. Also, I am not supposed to wear make-up for two weeks and have to wear sunglasses whenever I go out (this is actually hilarious as it is 4 degrees in Brighton and it is raining!). It is all worth it though as today I woke up and I could see! The feeling of waking up and not looking for your glasses is simply amazing!
To make things even better, my boyfriend took me out for a nice breakfast to celebrate the success of my surgery (yayyy!). We went to this nice little place called ♥♥ Barcode ♥♥. I wasn’t expecting much from it but as soon as our breakfast arrived, I was convinced. The food was lovely, service good and it was fairly cheap! I definitely recommend it ♥
If you are thinking of getting lazer eye surgery let me know and I can tell you a bit more about my experience ♥♥♥
Enjoy your Saturday! ♥♥♥
